Look like my boyfriend is changing and I don't know what to do i'm really confused right now.?

Like about a month ago he told me that we should put things on pause and i ingored it and didn't pay attention to much and i stop calling me but he called me & i never did answer until one day I finally did and he told me that he need to talk to me i was like about what so he said that he was going call me back because he was a work and we talked or whateva but when he said I love you and he know me and him wasn't getting along at that time i just knocked it off like okay whatevs. Now he's saying that we need to get on a new strat saying i love you again insted of hanging up the phone saying bye. But he's beating around the bush wot that though if u know what I mean.
